Upright, cormous perennial. Tall, sword-like, green foliage. Exotic-looking flower heads with yellow, orange or red tubular flowers blooming from mid to late summer.

Prefers medium moisture, moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Grows best in full sun to partial shade, some afternoon shade in hot climates in beneficial. Tolerant of some drought once established. plant in protected locations such as south side of a building. May or may not be winter hardy through zone 5, depending on specific location. Croms can be planted in spring after last frost and dug up in fall for winter storage.
