Genus Overview: Cornus

Common Name: Chinese Dogwood

Small, deciduous flowering tree or multi-stemmed shrub with oval, dark green, pointed leaves and reddish-purple fall color. White or pink petal-like bracts surround a cluster of yellowish-green flowers blooming in late spring. The flowers are followed by berry-like fruits which mature to pinkish-red in summer and persist into fall. Great as a specimen, in shrub borders and woodland gardens.
