Prefers full sun and rich, loose, average to moist, well-drained soil. Flowers can be deadheaded and foliage can be cut back in fall once it has died down. Plants are long-lived and do not need dividing for many years. Division can be done in fall. Fertilize once or twice a year with a low-nitrogen, balanced fertilizer (such as a bulb food). Plants benefit from a layer of compost or aged manure. Mulching the root zone can also be beneficial.

Common Name: Intersectional Peony
Vigorous, bushy habit with strong stems and glossy, dark green foliage. Beautiful single or semi-double flowers, often fragrant, come in a range of colors and bi-colors such as yellow, pink, red and lavender. Flowers bloom mid spring to early summer. Itoh peonies are hybrids, a cross between tree and herbaceous peonies. Great as a specimen, in groups, borders and cottage gardens.
