Homeowner Growing and Maintenance Tips:
Monardas will do best if planted in an area with full sun, good air circulation, and adequate moisture. It is a fast spreader so provide ample room in your garden for this plant and try planting it individually, not in groups. In the spring cut it back for a more compact look. Deadheading the plant prolongs the bloom period, and causes seeding not to occur. After the flower head dies the foliage may become unsightly, so simply cut the plant back to clean foliage near the base. Divide the plant every 2-3 years to keep it strong and to control its spread.
