Genus Overview: Metasequoia
Common Name: Dawn Redwood
Deciduous, coniferous tree with a conical shape and linear, feathery, fern-like foliage. Foliage emerges light green, maturing to deep green in summer and orange to red-bronze in fall. As trees mature the trunk broadens at the base and develops attractive fluting. Plants develop oval, light brown male pollen cones in spring and downward hanging female seed cones in late summer. Great as a specimen or street tree, best when given lots of space.
