Prefers organically rich, neutral to slightly acidic, medium moisture, well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Mulching is beneficial. Plant in a location sheltered from strong wind and southern exposures. Little pruning may be necessary but pruning can be done right after flowering and dead or damaged branches can be removed. Plants have a fleshy root system and should be left undisturbed after planting. Fertilize in spring with a slow-release fertilizer.
