Genus Overview: Leeks
Common Name: Leeks
Leeks are grown for their mild, edible white/light-green stalks. A relative of onion and garlic, however; have a sweeter and milder flavor. White and light green stalks are typically sauted, grilled, roasted or braised. Once cooked, they are silky and add rich body to soups and meat dishes. They can also replace onions or shallots in a recipe when a more delicate flavor is desired.
