Prefers moderately rich, well-drained soil, average moisture and full sun. Drought tolerant once established. Foliage can be evergreen to semi-evergreen depending on the climate but will see some winter damage in cold climates. Foliage can be trimmed back in early spring. Spent flower spikes can be cut to encourage further blooming. Plants can be divided every 3 to 4 years in spring.
