Genus Overview: Juniperus

Common Name: Juniper

Spreading, groundcover shrub with green, blue-green or golden, scale or needle-like foliage. Foliage may take on purple tones in winter. Inconspicuous yellowish-green or whitish-red pollen cones appear in spring. Fleshy, dark blue, berry-like seed cones mature in two years but may be absent on some cultivated plants. Great as a groundcover, in rock gardens and retaining wall edges.
