Vigorous, upright, deciduous shrub with oval to ovate, dark green leaves. Pointed, conical, terminal flower panicles contain fertile and sterile flowers and bloom from mid-summer into fall. Great for mass plantings, shrub borders, open woodland gardens and as a specimen.



Homeowner Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Prefers organically rich, moist, well-drained soil and full to partial sun. Can be grown as a shrub or a single-stemmed tree. Water regularly until established and weekly from then on. Fertilize in spring with a slow release acidic fertilizer. Pruning can be done in April prior to the leaves emerging, up to 1/3 of the plant.
