Typical colors are various greens, blues, yellow or variegated.  Varieties range from a small, compact size to very large.  Flowers scapes of lavender or white typically arrive in the summer and are a hummingbirds favorite.

Grown best in moist, well drained soil.  Will tolerate sandy soil.  Perfers shade or morning sun.  Most varieties will not tolerate hot afternoon sun, though a few will. As needed, plants should be divided in th early spring as new growth emerges.
