A popular perennial due to its hardiness and ease to grow.  Does best in average to poor soil that is well drained.  Most varieties should be grown in full - part-sun.  

Taller varieties should be pinched in the summer to prevent splitting later in the season.  Divide plants every 3-4 year to maintain compact growth habit.
